Is it possible to upgrade a laptop that has integrated graphics, to something more powerful?

Do most new laptops have an integrated mxm slot or an express card slot?

No it's not, and most laptops which have a dedicated card still don't have upgradeable cards. There are only a few select laptop boards that support upgradeable MXM slots.
