laptop graphics card

hi, n00b here. any help would be much appreciated. i have a dell inspiron 1501 and can't afford to buy a desktop but really want to play my pc games such as halo, half life, css, gears of war etc. so i was wondering if there was a graphics card or something that i could buy that would be compatible with my laptop allowing me to play these games without considerable lag. thanks in advance x
 
save up for a desktop lol...

you'll crush any battery life you had by adding a graphics card even if you have a port for it.
