i need help here, i had a toshiba laptop b4 was quite good i now got a HP DV6810 all good specs n stuff, but every 20-30 seconds or so the HD makes a random noise like a floopy drive seek noise for about 1 second, done loads of diagnostics says its fine, but its so annoying coz this is when im not even using it jus sat beside my desktop, and its so ANNOYING!!!!! any1 got any clues, i wouldnt mind if it was a normal seek noise but it more like a floopy seek, and why would it do a random activity seek every 20-30 seconds even though im aint used it for like an hour???
 
same sound one ide hd made i na desktop i had. clicking or what sounds liek a clikc beep sound is signs of wear and tear and the hard drive is dieing
 
but i jus bought it lol, from comet the ****ers and hp r saying i gotta send it to them what sick service jus bought it and now gotta be without it forever, and also they said run thier diagnostic utility which shows no hderrors, so they say cant do anything as its fine
 
if you bought it online your screwed. as if bought form a store liek best buy you can take it to them and they take cared of it and usually in a month u get sent to your front door. did this once on a laptop. harddrives are not bulletproof. anything can casue them to die.
 
jsut wiat till it dies and put nothing important on it. buy external hd till then. if u have to made the harddrive stress to progress it
 
but it will go on for ages i think its normal but damn anooying for it to make the noise every now and then even when not being used
 
better yet take out the HD if you can without showing that you did and put magnet to it thatll get them to take it
 
if under warranty you will void 100% of it. and you can put in any 2.5mm hard drive thats for laptops jsut make sure its either ide or sata and your al lset
