P pjoseph Member Oct 16, 2011 #1 I am trying to get data out of a laptop HD, I purchased a USB to SATA cable took out the HD and pluged it into another laptop but it does not see it, Any help on how I can get the files off the HD would be very much appreciated. thanks

johnb35 Administrator Staff member Oct 16, 2011 #2 If the hard drive is actually dead, there is no way to get the data off of it unless you send it in to a professional data recovery company.
