Laptop Hibernating/slowing down

[GOA-E]

Description of the problem:
My problem persists as recently, my laptop has gone into hibernation on three random occasions. It has also shutdown on one occasion. All of these were not authorized by me.
I have changed no power settings and the laptop was plugged in at the time.
My laptop has also been slowing down after prolonged use, and resets to normal performance after a restart.

Actions Taken:
Malwarebyte's and McAfee scan - Found nothing.

Other notes:
Running Vista 32 bit.
Laptop model Dell m1730.
I have an application that display laptop temperature and fan speeds, I've only seen it go up to 81c Max when gaming.

Hmm... Before skimming over the log, how's your battery doing? My first thought is maybe a power issue, perhaps a loose connector or failing power supply. Does the battery hold a decent charge? If so, what's the battery status after hibernation?

My battery has been dead for about 8 months.

Also accidentally kicked the Adapter a few times loosing power to my system before the hibernating occurred
My laptop is 2 years old, but has a 3 fan cooling pad.

See how the power is next time it hibernates. I suspect it's the power supply or a loose connection.

Also, where exactly to the fans sit for the cooling pad. I've seen some that have fans right under the laptop's primary fan, essentially neutralizing the fan and making it run even hotter.

Hmmm, the were not directly on the fans/vent. But close to, I've moved them away from the fans as far as possible.

It may not be so bad, especially if the fan doesn't start spinning...but I just know on one of my old laptops, I ordered a cooling pad and found one fan rested directly under the laptop's fan. It wasn't too happy about that

Reformatting Questions :>,

I've decided it's time to reformat, but instead of just chucking the disk in and going, I need some info since this well be my first reformat ( I'm a virgin D: ), So heres a little list of things that I need info on.

Backing up:
My Hard drives are nearly full with gigabytes of stuff, I have an external hard drive that's 500gb's, what is the best way to back up data? what data should be backed up? Any other crucial information?

Partitions:
My m1730 came with 3 partitions, OS C, Recovery E, Datapart1 D. When I'm in the windows vista installer ( I heard it is not noob friendly ) What drive do i need to select? Should I keep threes partitions? Wright to whole disk etc...

Things I need:
I have a pretty big magnet, will that be enough to wipe the drive?
No seriously tho, I have all the CD's that came with my m1730, which ones do I need before/after installation?

Any other relevant Information?

There's really no easy way to backup software, so it's really stuff you need. Documents, pictures, music, etc... If there is software you need, see if you can find the serial numbers listed on the program somewhere (if that's the case). Also take note of your drivers. All should be available from Dell, but sometimes they have various models mixed together (they might have drivers for Intel, ATI and Nvidia GPUs)

I don't know why anyone would say the Vista install is not user friendly as it's a good bit easier than XP was. But the question is what do you want to do? Are you planning on making one large partition rather than keeping the recovery and such? Also, if you reload windows using this and you DO have a recovery partition, it probably won't work anymore. There's usually something placed in the boot loader to make the partition active by a keystroke.

It depends on the disk? I think Dell normally has a Windows disk/restore partition. Honestly, unless the disk has windows on it or software you need, I'd just trash it. A clean install of Windows would be much better than one with old drivers and bloated with pre-loaded junk.

hmmm well, I guess I want to take it back to when I got it, Just a full clean install of windows with the same partitions? Or if there is a better combination? Also, Whats the need for the recovery partition? Just seems like a waist of 10 gigs :/.
