Laptop Internet issues

Hi there,

My friend always has some issue with the internet getting connected and running in full speed. She uses 100MBps bandwidth but the speed she gets is really slow.

She has an old laptop with 256 ram and Xp OS. i know this could be a prob. Anything else that can be done so the internet can be good connectivity?...

Is she using wireless? The low amount of ram could be an issue depending on how much stuff is loaded on bootup.
 
well she is using LAN.... and still has a prob... i guessed it is coz of the ram... but then wanted to be sure.... anything that can be done on this.... or upgrading the ram is the only option?.... coz XP on 256 Ram is mega slow..... so any other adcvice...

Please let me know....

Just a tid bit of info if you aren't aware. Mbps is Megabit's per second, not bytes
So don't expect 100 megs a second on your network. Also wireless is not really that good unless its properly set up, physically and configured as well.
So use a Cat5(e) or Cat6 cable and see if that helps.

I know im not helping you problem at all. Just keep in mind you wont even get 54Mbps with wireless G, and they claim you can get 200Mbps but its like 108Mbps and even then you dont get the full 108Mbps out of it.
