Laptop is Slow

You may have the option for a destructive restore or a nondestructive restore. All depends on how it was setup. A nondestructive just does a repair install sort of. A destructive restore formats your drive and reinstalls everything like it was back when you bought it.

Restore/Recovery?

john,

The F10 function sent me to the BIOS Setup Utility. I googled on how to do a Windows recovery in Windows Vista and it said to hit F11 at startup. I will give that a try. Thanks

I completed the recovery on the laptop. It is much faster now. I can only imagine how much faster it will be when I install the 2GB of RAM memory in the system. Thanks for all your help!!!:)

Eddie

PS: I also created recovery DVD's just in case. I am updating windows at the moment. Shall I install AVG or MSE as my antivirus program?

MSE until you get more ram and then you can install Avast or anything else, really don't recommend AVG anymore.

Actually, many people forget these steps when their computer is slow.

1. Defragment your disk, especially C drive. You can google it for ways to do it.
Note: don't use third-party programs to defrag it. Use windows disk defragment tool. You can find it in the start menu.

2. Check your disk for errors. If it was a laptop, it may have the problem, caused by moving your computer and overheat. Find it in the properties of C drive if windows xp, and start menu (maybe in system tools) in win vista and 7.

You may google it for ways to do it.

Hope that it works!
