Laptop just turns off

My laptop just seems to be turning off after about 15 seconds. Sometimes i can login and start up firefox, but it pretty much turns on right after that.

This started happening after i got my new screen installed and also got the thermal paste done.

Just before i got these things done it was running fine, i was using just 2 hours before.

The guy who did the screen and paste seems to think its the operating software (doesn't seem right to me if it was working hours before) He knows what hes doing and is going to have another look at it tomorrow.

Im here cause i don't know much about computers, and just want to see what people have to say.

Thanks guys

My guess would be the guy messed one of them up. Could be a few things - was the HSF correctly installed after the TC changed, was the fan plugged back into the header, etc.

You said "he knows what he's doing" - how? Have you used him before? Does he talk like he knows a lot? Does he have a legit repair business?

As above, sounds like he screwed up the paste. It's probably overheating as a result and shutting down quickly.

For him to even say it's the OS means you need to find a different computer guy.

I agree that the repair was messed up because it was working before and now it is not. I don't know of OS problem would cause this kind of shut down.

But I don't think it is an over heat issue because OP said it shuts down in 15 SECONDS. That is too short of time to be overheated.

That would depend on how poor the cooling is, it's definitely possible for it to overheat in 15 seconds.

Thanks for all the support.

If it is the paste will it be an easy fix?

He has a Facebook page and a lot of people recommend him. Sometimes people just muck up with these things? He was probably saying it's the OS to try and cover his back.

Anyway I'm taking it into him today, I'll post what the outcome is when I know

I'll also add that it seems to last slightly longer after a decent break. I've stopped touching it now as I don't wanna do anymore damage

Yeah, its definitely sounds like its overheating. Since it lasts longer after a break. Most likely heatsink wasn't put back on correctly or just bad application of thermal paste or something simple.
