laptop memory problem

i have a
toshiba satellite l500-1xc

and i bought some RAM

Corsair DDR3 1333MHz 4GB kit of 2x204pin SODIMM's Unbuffered

when i put in the 2 corsair sticks my laptop wont boot.
when i put one stick in with the old stick (Samsung 2GB PC3-8500 1066MHz DDR3 ) it works fine.

why cant i use the 2 corsair?

My guess would be that the laptop only supports up to 1066 memory. Which when you use the old and the new together it reduces the speed to 1066 but when you use both new together, they both are at 1333.

I have 2 sticks of 800 mhz RAM in, but my laptop only supports 533 max. Could the problem be that one of the sticks is bad?

But it also depends on the machine itself how picky it is with memory.

It could be that his motherboard doesn't support his type of ram, try out
this online scanner, to test for bad ram, put one stick in at a time to see if your laptop POST's.
