Laptop Monitor Brightness Issue

Hi Everybody,
Kannan here. I have a question regarding the battery and a/c power usage for laptop. I got my laptop repaired recently. Before it got repaired the screen brightness is in normal condition. But when I got it back repaired when it runs in battery (A/C power off) the monitor brightness becomes dull than usual brightness. When I checked with my computer technician he says this is for power consumption. No problem. But when the brightness is dull its really hard to view it. It would be great if someone guide me in solving this issue.

Sorry I forgot to say one more issue I am facing. To have the normal brightness I run the laptop always in A/C mode. I feel the laptop speed got reduced after I am using like that. I also welcome suggestions on this.

Which laptop are you using, did you try using the function key to increase the brightness of the screen?
Can you provide specifications of your laptop, that may help see what actually happens after power if off and what do you do on the laptop when the power is off?
 
It is the power setting in windows does that. If is windows 7 you using, you can go to control panel>hardware and sound>power options to change the brightness on the battery option.
