laptop monitor quick help needed

i have a toshiba laptop that i need to hook up to an external monitor.

but it will only let me use the monitor as an extension to the laptops screen.

how can i make the external monitor the primary screen?

Be sure you have the drivers installed for your GPU. Typically there is some sort of clone option listed in the advanced settings. Standard MS drivers don't always have these options.
 
i cant find a driver that isnt from something like driver agent. and that just makes me scan my whole computer for new drivers.

can someone please help me find it?

its for a Trident video accelerator cyberblade xp

something like that.

Wow...what kind of laptop are we talking about here?

I found a few "apparent" driver packages searching google but it's hard to know for sure seeing as I don't have such a GPU... I was kind of expecting some nVidia or ATI. Perhaps even an SiS such as I have :P
 
lol turns out i just had to press function + f5

and it changes to the right one,
