I have an acer aspire 3620 with 2 20 gig hard drives. So I want to upgrade one of them to maybe a 60 or 80 gig so i can store more data. But when i look at laptop hard drives there are many different types
2.5", 3.5" IDE and sata

How do i no which one to get??

thanx

well, im almost positive your hard drive is IDE. i know that it is 2.5". are you sure that your computer has 2 HDDs, and not 2 partitions?? i know that there are laptops that have 2 hdds, because mine does, but you would be awfully disappointed if you bought a new hdd only to find you only have one hdd bay.
oh ya, to find your exact model go to: right click my computer> properties> hardware> device manager> disk drives. it will show you the model numbers of all detected drives. i suggest you copy/paste and google it. that should help you gain info on what to replace it with.
good luck!

in device manger there is only 1 hard drive so many it might be 2 parition which sux.... il ggole it and see what happens

if only 1 hard drive shows in device manager then you do have 2 partitions on a 40gb drive, my suggestion is get one of those handy imaging software programs like archos or ghost, create an image of your system as is currently onto an external hd, then buy your larger drive, and load the image you created onto the new drive and whamo, you have a bigger drive, or you can always go ahead and use the factory restore disk and just have to re-install all your software loaded currently...
