Hello,
maybe it is new PNP laptop ??

I am really upset ! I can't find any clue about my problem :
I cannot shutdown and power off my OMNIBOOK 6000 ! from soft Windows XP shutdown command or even hard switch action, the notabook stops quite correctly, and power off, and start again after 1 second or even less.... What is possible to do for this !!
Need to say also : I installed Windows XP, all was working very very fine ! Only problem was this sleeping mode that isn’t coming back correctly about screen (staying black at wake up) . But about shutdown, all was working.. for now, only way to switch on is to put AC/ plug inside, and it starts directly… and switch off by removing it at the best moment possible when hearing the fans stopping… (before it starts again)
this problem appeared without any reason (no installation, no special actions…)
I formatted and reinstalled ALL, and is the same problem staying anyway L
Do anyone think it can be from the harware itself ? (power switch) ??

So many people seems to have. Did Hewlett Packard not do anything for this ?? I'll pay anyone having the answer for me !!!

my email : [email protected]

Nope, mostlikely malware. Try running some spyware programs like Spybot or Ad-Aware. Also make sure you've got all the updated drivers/fixes from their website. Wouldnt hurt to have all the Windows updates either.

I already checked, with Avast, Spybot, ad-*aware, and several other ones.. nothing changed.
Also, about this matter, I am not sure, as I formatted all Hard disk and reinstalled all, and problem still here from start again..
Or maybe this malware would be staying in memory ?? ?
also as I updated the drivers, nothing changed.
But at first install in WIN XP, with the drivers from original win xp install, all was working well, so I not sure it can come from driver update...

Did you install everything that is needed or just the what you thought was needed? A lot of folks install only the "necessary" things like modem, video, sound, and lan, but forget that things like Speedstep, latest bios, utility packages and synaptics driver is also recommended. Usually the rule of thumb was to upgrade the bios and firmwares only if you've encountered a problem, but this lappy came out in over 5 years ago, it should be due for an update (especially when running XP).

I see what you mean for sure.
But as I bought it, it was running Win XP perfectly, and shutting down well.
I changed to reinstall it with my own WIN XP Pro, and all was running well again.
And suddenly, 3 days of use after, it started to do this problem.. so I reinstalled with the same own CD, and problem stays..

I mean no meaning with installing necessary things or not.. as I speaking about 2 times the same installation anyway, one worked 3 days, and went wrong.. then reinstalling the same, and is always wrong....

I afraid maybe the main mechanical switch itself is wrong.. is it possible ? souding possible I mean ?

Sounds like a problem with the mainboard to me, maybe something is causing a short which is causing the system to reboot on its own.
i doubt it'd be the power button itself to be honest. bear in mind that computers can behave very strangely when there is something wrong. i would get into contact with the manufacturer and see what they say.

this would be really great help, anyway great point of view from them sure.
I really amazed about this thing. .
this laptop is working so perfectly.. to not have good switch is a shame ;-) !
