Not really. It's far, far easier just to buy one off the shelf.

The only ones you can sorta build is a barebones, we're you buy most of the laptop and put some ram, a cpu, a HDD, and that's about it, and it's not cost effective, unlike building a desktop.

My Dell Latitude D600 developed a bad motherboard causing it to freeze (I bought it used) so I just replaced the mobo and it still runs. I've owned my E6500 since new and I've never had any issues.

It would almost be worth another thread to find out how many more people would build laptops, assuming that all the obstacles were removed besides the expense of building.

I have a felling that if component manufactures like corsair started making laptop parts for building one, the case would be very big, and useless.

I've owned 2 Fujitsu, a Dell and a Toshiba laptop. All have been very good with no issues.

I also have had 2 Acer netbooks that have performed flawlessly.

My Vaio has done well for me with being two years old so I put good for it but honestly a little disappointed. It feels very cheap and has the loudest fans I have ever heard in a laptop.

When you say it feels cheap, can you be a bit more specific? (I think you're suggesting it lacks features).
