So I've been given this laptop to fix, as happens fairly regularly(Toshiba SA30-203, in case you were wondering), and I was told that it has a problem with having lines down the screen (needs a new screen, I know that much) and that it turns itself off after about half an hour. So when I got it, I turned it on and used it for a bit and it seemed fine, apart from the screen. Used it for net browsing for a while, I used it a few times in fact and I didn't see it shut down at all. So I then took it apart, to check whether I could replace the graphics card (to solve the lines down the screen issue, it's not your normal lines down the screen issue) and discovered it was onboard graphics, as I'd thought... but now I've put it back together, exactly the same, it turns itself off after about 3 minutes, after spinning up the fans like it's getting really hot, but it's still cold. I've tried replacing the processor as I happen to have a spare one, but that made no difference. Has anyone got any ideas why it would turn itself off? I'm guessing it thinks its overheating so it turns off to save itself, or something like that, but I'm not sure how to solve it! so any suggestions?
