Laptop problem, would you say its the PSU as well?

Hi,

My nephew took the cover off his laptop screen the other day with the battery still attached and managed to drop the spring from the release catch onto the inverter. Apparently it lit up orange and now the back light doesn't work.

I've tested the screen by hooking it up to my laptop and the screen and back light functioned correctly, i have also replaced the inverter and still nothing, would the only other option be the power supply? Everything else seems to work fine apart from the back light.

I'm not going to say it's impossible, but I doubt the PSU would have any bearing on the backlight not working. Unless the new inverter you got is defective, I'd say it would have to be the motherboard.
