Laptop problem

When I am using a wireless connection and I am finished using it, I close the lid. But when I raise the lid back up to start using it again, I can not connect back to the internet. In fact, I can't even get to my network connections. I have to either restart it or shut it down completely, then it will automatically connect. Can someone help me fix this. It's a brand new computer and has done it since day 1.

You may want to see if there is a driver update for your wireless card. Also, sleep/hibernate mode causes a lot of issues that never seem to get resolved.

100% agree with john if it is a problem with sleep or hibernate, it will not get fixed by anyone and you basically have no hope...not to be too optimistic. (i have a vista laptop that goes into (and has gone into for about 3 years now) sleep mode and doesnt wake up unless you unplug and remove battery) thousands of people have this problem but no one (microsoft, HP, Nividia, etc.) is interested in fixing it.
