Laptop Processor running slow

Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 5102, AMD Turion 64x2, 1.6GHZ, 512kb L2 Cache. Its about 2 years old.

I installed a game today which said that my laptop didnt meet the minimum spec. It said that it recommended 1.4ghz processor and that mine was only 0.8GHZ. After this I went on to a couple of processor speed testing sites and both measured at 0.7 - 0.8 GHZ.

Is this correct or is my processor running at half the speed it should be. If so is there anything I can do to fix it or has it just had its day.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AMD Cool n Quiet, it downlocks the CPU when not under load. It will clock back up to 1.6 when needed.
 
Check your computers power settings. If its set for laptop/notebook that will also cause it to happen. Try changing that setting in power management ( can be found in the screen savor setting tab if your running windows xp ) change to desktop. That can also fix it besides cool n quiet in the bios.
