Laptop processors

Im looking to get myself and laptop and have been looking at Sony or Hp. I would ideally like a 17" screen but this is mainly because a lot of the screens are only 780 high and i do a lot of coding so would like something to get as many lines of text on screen as possible. Most of the 15" laptops come with core i3 processors but the 17" laptops come with amd processors. Is there much difference in these?
Typical laptops I have been looking at are:
Sony VAIO EF3E1E

Sony Vaio EB3L9E

HP PAVILION DV7-4131SA

AMD mobile processors have improved quite a bit BUT even their latest offerings do not have the L3 cache which would be very important since you do coding.

I recommend an i5 or an i7 processor (the i7 may be cost prohibited) for what you want to do with 4 gigs of memory. Intel cpus have the L3 cache.

This Toshiba is 17.3" in screen size and has an i5 processor: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Tosh...4P_Core_i5_Laptop_PSK3FE-00U00REN/version.asp I suggest doing more research on this model but I know a number of people here like their Toshibas. It has 3 gigs of memory and if you find you need four it won't cost that much to add another gig.

Budget?
