Laptop purchase suggestions?

Hi, everyone.

My friend is looking to purchase a laptop, his budget is about 1400, he won't be doing any gaming, all he wants to do is the basic tasks - web browsing, movie watching, chatting, porn seeking...

Are there any laptops you guys would recommend?

BTW I had encouraged him to get a desktop, but he simply doesn't have room for it, plus he has to take it with him from place to place.

You could get a decent laptop for 1400... But you didn't mention gamming. Does he not care to game any. That's what really separates some laptops from others, their graphics cards. That's what really addes to the price of most, too.

You know, I was looking into some compaqs a couple nights ago, and you can customize a pretty nice 14" wide screen laptop for around $700... And that's with a semi-decent graphics card, I beleive 1G RAM, 60G HD, and I think a Turon of some sort... I don't remember all the specs, but it's worth checking out...
