i'm trying to transfer a 1gb stick of ram from my old laptop to my new one and it works fine on my old one but doesnt seem to like the new laptop and wont boot at all.
its ddr2 memory and both laptops are compatable with ddr2
any help is appreciated

You'll want to make sure that it's seated properly, and you might try it in both RAM slots, but it's not uncommon for a particular motherboard to not like a particular stick of RAM. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Not much you can do about it.
 
If you a putting in an additional stick into your new machine, try taking the other stick out and running it with just the one older stick and see if that helps. At least then you'll know if its a compatibility issue between 2 different sticks
