laptop SATA?

I have this laptop hard drive which seems to have sata conectors. (power and data) is it ok if conect the hard drive to my desktop computer with the regular sata cables?

I don't see why not.

Though I'd get an external HD case and use that instead of just plugging a bare drive in.

ahh,, good to know. Well I just want to save the data on the disk because the laptop died so I think I won't buy a case.

to confirm, yes, the sata on 2.5" drives is exactly the same as on 3.5" drives, there is no difference.
