Hi, I have a Laptop and I turn it on and will play WC3 for about an hour. After that the screen will turn black and I will not be able to do anything. The sound starts to just repeat over and over like a scratched cd. I will have to manualy shut the computer off by holding in the power button. I have been playing this game for years and it just started doing this. Is my laptop overheating and turning off to keep from damaging it's self? Thanks in advance for your help.

you need to change your power settings

its hybernating go to display click on power change the setting should fix your problem.

I turned the computer on today and it didnt even make it to Windows desktop before the screen went black. So I restarted it and it got to windows but then after I started up the game again the screen went black. I would say about 15 min after booting the computer.

No this is definitely not your power settings, as hibernate requires the comptuer to be idle before any of those settings kick in. From the sound of it, your computer is freezing after a certain period of use.

This could have several causes, but one of the most common is in fact overheating. Does the bottom feel extremely hot to the touch when the screen dies on you?

Also, it could be your video card going out (usually onboard and therefore points to a larger issue) or it could be a seriously corrupt video driver causing a STOP error. Usually though, a driver is not going to cause the screen to turn completely off, so this is a long shot.

How old is the laptop and when did this start? Was it a problem that got worse over time, or did it just happen out of nowhere?

The bottom of it always feels hot after about an hour of use I wouldn't say extremely because I can leave my hand on it without it burning me or having to remove my hand. The laptop is about 2 or 3 years old I can get more info on it when I get home I am at work now. I have gotten the blue screen of death plenty of times before but never this. This black screen happened out of nowhere the day I posted. Then the 2nd day it was worse. I played today and the computer ran fine, no black screen, no blue screen, I was able to do what I had to. I will try again tomorrow and see what happens.
