Laptop speakers suck

My laptop is acting wired. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300, running Windows XP Home Edintion. I have built in speakers (SigmaTel C-Major).The only problem is that the headphone jack is broken and still stuck in the machine. The problem is this: one day, i was on my laptop and the speakers were working fine. I turned it off and went on about two hours later and the speakers didnt make any sound at all. I went on to the Help center and it told me to find another way to fix it

Try reinstalling your sound drivers.

Sounds like possibly the broken jack is making it think that there are headphones plugged into it, if this is the case, im not sure how you could go about fixing it...
