Laptop takes forever to come off hibernation

My Toshiba laptop takes ages to come back on after i have put it into hibernation. It hibernates quickly but when i turn it back on it takes way too long. I have another laptop and that takes seconds to come back on after hibernating.

Any suggestions ?

the laptop is a Toshiba Equium A100, 1GB RAM, 1.66 core duo, 80GB HDD. When i put the laptop into hibernation it is running quite a few programs. Off the top of my head it runs: 2 or 3 Adobe programs, BT internet, Norton Antvirus software, Limewire, windows live messanger. There are definetly more, but i can't think of them at the minute as i am not currently using that laptop. Do you think the problem might be related to the fact that there are too many programs running when i am putting into hibernation then ?

Yeah, since you're not closing out the programs when gong into hibernation, it takes such a long time to load them all again in the same place.

Basically, you need to close some programs before going into hibernation. Try that and get back to us :)
 
i closed all the programs apart from Norton anti virus and it has made no difference.
Could it be an installation error with windows XP ? I don't know what else to do. Anyone else with anymore ideas ?

any help will be much appreciated !
