Hi,
I recently acquired a relatively ancient laptop, an Acer Extensa running Windows 98 that I intend to use only for word processing. I am told that the Internet is possible but that's really not the goal.
What I want to do is take Word files from the laptop & put them on my PC, which runs Vista. The only thing is, my laptop's USB drive doesn't recognize my USB key like my PC does.
Should I : Get a driver? Do they make drivers for '98? Where do I get it? Can I burn it to a CD & put it in my laptop?
Should I: Get a USB networking cable? I can't find any in my area whatsoever. I only know what I've seen on the internet.
Should I: Purchase the alternative, which is a Y-Cable: USB on one end, and the roundish mouse & keyboard connections on the other ends? I don't use a mouse on my laptop and the laptop has the plugs for the round mouse thingy.
Should I: Attempt to connect to the Internet? I think Wifi is like impossible with that laptop. Like I said, it's ancient. Connecting to the net on this would either spell dial-up or another weird cable.
Should I: Find a version of iTunes that will work on '98, burn it onto a CD using my PC, open & install on my laptop, and use my iPod as a mass storage device?
What should I do?! If you suggest a cable, could you please please Google and image I can print out and take with me to the store?
I'm frazzled with this machine!!
Please help me!
