Laptop to replace Dell PC

I am a computer ignoramus so excuse the dumb questions. I have a Dell Dimension 3000, bought in 2004. I want to replace it with a laptop. My Dell has these details: Total physical memory 768 MB, Total virtual memory 2GB, available virtual memory 1.96GB. Not sure what any of it means but need laptop that does at least the same job or better. My needs are email, net surfing, iTunes and that is about it. No gaming at all. Guy in shop suggested this: The Toshiba Satellite Pro C650 15.6" DualCore 4GB 500G Win7/ How does that sound or is there a better/cheaper one. That Toshiba is about AUD$1300.

anything you will find today will be far improved over what you now have.
Toshiba makes great laptops, so do many others.
With that said "posted" I myself would not buy a Dell product today.;)
