laptop turning it self off

hi,
Should i be worried if my laptop just decides to turn itself off. Occasionally, say once a month, week etc i'll just be using the laptop and it will suddenly shutdown instantly.
I imagine it might just be over heating but should i be worried?

Laptops are known to get very hot, especially if you are always accessing hard drive for scans or such. Just make sure you aren't blocking the exhaust port so the hot air can escape. Has it just started doing this or has it done it since you got it? You might have to take it in to get it cleaned out and blow all the dust bunnies out of it.
 
When you restart it after if shuts off like that, is there any error code during POSTing? Typically, if something shuts down due to heat, you'll see a message to that degree. It might be flash up once quickly, so it could be very easy to miss.

Anyway, I'd suggest downloading a temp monitoring program like SpeedFan or Everest to see what your temps are listed as.
