Laptop -> TV

I was just wondering - if my tv (Sanyo dp26647) doesnt have a vga input, is there any way i can connect my laptop up to it to use it as another monitor? for example if i bought a hdmi(female) to vga(male) could i connect that to my laptop and run an hdmi cable from the laptop to tv? More broadly, with any combination of adapters/wires?

if you have a s-video output in your laptop and a s-video in your tv set than i think maybe you can connect your laptop to your tv for viewing. maybe you can try out this
