laptop with external display

I want to know if I could install an external monitor to my toshiba satellite laptop (15 inch) and put my computer with the lid closed under my desk.

I've seen this reffered to as clamshell mode or closed display mode.

help!
 
wouldnt see why not, just making sure it doesnt do anything with power management under windows with the lid closed, you should be fine...
 
So how would I do this plug the monitor in
change the settings so my image goes to the external display
then close the lid?
 
Plus the monitor in, press the hot keys to switch displays (or do so in display properties) then disable sleep on lid-close.
