Laptop won't boot correctly

I have a Sony VAIO model: PCG-61611L VPCEE31FX
This problem started after windows updated the BIOS. After I start it the fan kicks on and the computer attempts to start. I get a screen that says..
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
-Launch Startup Repair (Recommended)
-Start Windows Normally"
..which ever option I choose, it shuts down before it completes.

PLEASE HELP!!

Go into the bios and change the sata controller mode from IDE to AHCI or vice versa. When you update the bios it puts everything back to default settings.
