I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 with Vista Ultimate 32bit, 2GB RAM, 100 GB 7200rpm harddrive, NVIDIA GEForce Go 7900GS, Intel Core2 Duo 2.16ghz processor

When I turn on my laptop all the lights come on but the screen remains black, though the backlight is on. This happened to me the other day and after rebooting the computer several times and then after inserting the Vista reinstallation it finally booted up. So naturally I thought it was a software problem with the OS, so I ran system restore and everything was fine after that. But today the same thing happened, so I instered the cd again, but it didn't fix it this time. So now i'm wondering if it's a hardware problem.

I removed the harddrive and tried starting it up, but it still didn't work. So then i removed the RAM one by one and then both at the same time, and it still didn't work.

So, of course, i'm extremely concerned now, and am desperate for help because I need my laptop for school, and i have so many things to get done this late in the semester. So i could really use the help!

Thanks

Have you got an external screen you could try plugging it into? just incase it's the screen or screen cable thats the problem.

I assume you have no other components you can try in it? RAM being the main one i was thinking.
You could try taking the battery out and running just from mains incase thats the problem, I've known batteries to cause the strangest of problems!

no..i don't. and yeah i already took the battery out and put it back in and also tried it without the battery
