Hey everyone,

Have a pretty serious problem with my laptop, Recently I noticed it was low battery, even tho I have not removed it from the charger for days, I took out the charger to plug it back in, to see if it might have fallen out and it powers off. So I plug the charger back in and leave it off for the night, Still 0% charged when I checked it yesterday and no change since :/.

Any help or suggestions GREATLY appreciated,

Thanks,

Andrew.

Is there anyway you can get another power cord (w/ brick) and test it. I know that it was common for the jack in the Inspiron 9100's to go after a while. Try initiating a chat session with the manufacturer to get the quickest fix.

What kind of laptop do you have, and how old is the battery? That's another possibility (as I believe the chemical reactions don't work nearly as well after a number of years).

Checking the brick is also useful as the previous respondent indicated. I used to have a Dell lattitude (D400), and I went through about 3 bricks in 2 years. (I think it was me rolling up the cord onto the brick like it was designed, but that seemed to have knocked loose a connection.)

Dell m1730. 16 months old. If the brick was damaged would I still be able to use my laptop tho? So I don't think it's that.

A 16mo. old battery that has been used heavily will need replacement soon.

Grab a new power adapter to test. It doesn't hurt to have a spare anyway.

Even though the battery is dead it will still power through AC.

Most common is the battery goes out.

If the charger was bad, it most likely wouldn't power up the notebook.

The batteries don't last forever.
