Laptop wont connect to wireless

Hi,
Well we have 3 laptops in the house but 1 wont connect wirelessly. when we try to connect to the internet it will try to connect then just stop and it doesnt say anything. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

Need more info please.....
- security? WEP/WPA2 encryption?.
- operating systems?
- ist an old laptop?

so it says: no wireless connections present?
You may need to mirror *every* detail from the 2 laptops that work onto the dud one including, but not ltd to, security settings.

hi it is
wpa2 encryption
xp, vista basic, vista home priemum. (xp wont connect and home priemum only somtimes does)
xp is brand new, home is couple years old, basic only got last year.
have made sure all the settings are the same but still wont work.
xp dectects the connection but when you try to connect to it it will say connecting and then just go off and not connect.
