Laptop won't POST

My HP Pavillion dv6408nr was working completely fine yesterday. But to my surprise I went to boot it up this morning and it refuses to turn on. The led lights come on for a second then everything shuts down.
I tried various ways to get it to work, without the charger, without the battery and plugged in. Nothing changed.
The fan starts to spin but when the LEDs go down so do the fans.
This is my college laptop that the family has been using so im rather desperate for help.
If anyone has any ideas for me, please let me know.

Remove the battery and power adapter, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, reinsert battery and try booting it up.

Tried what you asked with the power button and nothing happens. Same LED lights come on then everything goes right off. Any other suggestions?

Seems to be the motherboard, anyone else have any ideas?

Check the power brick first, but yeah it could be the motherboard.
