Recently I upgraded my laptop a Vaio PCG-V505EX from 512MB of RAM to 1Gb. Now when I take the battery out and simply plug in the AC adapter the computer won't turn on. Well it will actually turn on for a few seconds but then it will turn itself off.

I have to put back in the battery if I want to use the notebook under AC power I did not have to do this before. What could be the problem with my laptop??

i had a vaio laptop it cost me $3000(aus) 1 year ago and just recently i broke the screen and now i cant use it :( but i dont think i could use it without the battery.. i dont remember ever trying. maybe call up vaio help and they should be able to assist u.. im always running into weird problems like this with laptops.

It may be that the battery in series, not parallel to the input, this means you have to have it in otherwise there won't be a complete circuit.
