a friend of a friend said he could get me a laptop computer for $690.00 and heres what its got a

2.9 or 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 (why would i get the slower of the two makes no sense to me)

40 gb hd
516mb ddr
13in. flat lcd
256mb internal video card
toshiba dvd 52x internal all in one (he says its a dvd burner but has nothing on the paper he gave me)

hes kind of a weird guy and wont give me the website im just wondering does anyone have a site comparable to it cause i would like to get an idea of what the computer will look like and it sucks playing phone tag with the guy just to have him change the price for something i want him to add on.

Well 516mb ram? or 512? :) The 40gb hd is a little small and a 13in flat screen? VERY small. The internal video card is probably shared with the 512 and the dvd burners.. we dont really know about yet. It doesnt sound like a bad deal.. but find out the manufacturer, and the warranty.. it seems like a good price.. but you have to remember that you get what you pay for.
 
ive never met the p4 2.9... but the 3.2 is alright. the problem with the pentium 4 processors is that they drain the battery life like there is no tomorrow. a pm would be a better choice. if it is indeed shared it would leech off ure ram which can slow stuff up. if those specs are true then u have got ureself a pretty good deal, it looks nice and portable,even though he is ure friend i would be a bit sus, some of those specs dont seem to add up I COULD BE WRONG THOUGH if he is a good friend trust him
 
seems unusual to find such a large desktop processor (pentium 4 3.2 ghz)in a laptop with a small and portable 13" screen
be very careful buying laptops
