Laptops being made cheaper

Needed a new laptop. Have 3 old ones that have lasted a few years. In the new laptops, the trend seems to be to cut the USB ports from 4 ports down to 2 or 3, remove the DVD drive and lower the storage way down and blame it on a $$ SSD.

DVD's are obsolete, and external burners are cheap. USB hubs exist and 3 is usually enough anyway, especially as Type C becomes more common place and can run multiple devices easily. Don't buy bottom of the barrel crap and you're fine.

No one need DVD drive all the time these day. You can spend $20 for an external drive.

Laptop are getting cheaper, if you need more usb port or larger SSD drive, no one stop you paying more to get one with that.

You can get laptop for $400 these day, how much did you pay 10 years ago?

No, DVD's are the only type of hard copy that you can get that is not magnetic based.

Long time ago they were pricey. But not so long ago the striped down version was the same price as one with a DVD, more USB's....and a SD reader.
