Hi

i'm a college student taking business adminstration specifcally in marketing and this year is my 2nd year of the program. In the 2nd year, student get to pick one of the two laptops and I'm having trouble picking one over the other. so I was hoping you guys can help me out on which one is the better laptop

Dell Latitude D620

CPU: Intel Core Duo 1.67
RAM: 1GB x1 DIMM
VIDEO: 256 MB Nvidia TurboCache*
HDD: 80GB 5400RPM
Display: 14.1" WXGA (Wide)
CD: DVD-RW/CD-RW
Ports: Serial, VGA, 4-USB
Network: 10/100/1000
Wireless: Dell BG

ThinkPad R60

CPU: Intel Core Duo 1.67
RAM: 1GB x1 DIMM
VIDEO: 128 MB ATI x1400
HDD: 80GB 5400RPM
Display: 14.1" XGA
CD: DVD-RW/CD-RW
Ports: 3-USB, S-Video, FireWire
Network: 10/100/1000

This is all the info that my college provided about the laptops. I think that they should put more info, but i know both laptops have window xp professional. I have no expectation since I only had experiences of 1 year of college, so I cant really tell ya...

so what the verdict? Dell or ThinkPad

Thanks

turbo cache, hmmm. not sure if this is integrated or not if it is which i suspect it might be, then i would go with the second option, wait for someone with a bit more of an idea

Turbo cache is an interesting newish feature nVidia has come up with where the video card has about 64M memory onboard, but can share some of your system's memory for up to 256.

I personally would go with the Thinkpad because they are very high end and high quality laptops. Dell's are ok, but I worked on one of those new thinkpads and the quality was amazing... I just might get one as my next laptop!

from the specs provided. they are practically the same thing. with exception to the video card. so if you dont plan on anything graphic intense, either one should be fine.

however, like The_Other_One said, from background info.. I personally would take the Thinkpad. Why? I'm just not very fond of dell and how they build their units.

I would choose the second one because if you want to give a presenation you can use the S-VIDEO to Plug directly into a TV. Other than that they soind very identical.

I would go with the Thinkpad, it has 128MB video on the card, and it has S-Video and Firewire, which the Dell doesn't. Thinkpads are also very tough laptops, and will stand up to a lot of abuse.
