Laptops & Jam Sessions?

Hey.

I've got a Toshiba P100 Satellite and I'm a drummer in a band. Now, I'd like to setup my laptop in the garage I have jam sessions in, but I'm concerned that the sound waves from the drum kit (let alone the guitar, bass and vocals) will negatively affect the P100. It'd be situated 1-2 metres away from my drum kit, and further from the guitars and vocals amplifiers.

So, would it be alright? I normally wouldn't be so worried about these sorts of things, but I've buggered up laptops so many times in the past and I can't afford to do it again. Cheers in advance.

PS. The reason I want to set it up in the garage is because when I or the band are playing covers, we can have the song playing on my laptop to keep us in line.

i have my laptop about 1m away from my kit, and just above our bassists amp.
i dont think it will cause any problems, we use mine to record our songs on and its fine.

i just use the free program called 'audacity' to record the band, and just a normal computer mic. its not that great sound but its good enough.
