Im looking for a laptop to run audio recording & editing software.

here are the 2 most important system requirements for the software ill be running.
-512mb ram, minimum (1gb or more recommended)
-drive speed 5400 rpm minimum (7200 rpm recomended)

any links to custom build sites are welcomed. hope somebody can help!

thanks in advance.

Any laptop should do just fine. Even 4200RPM drives should be plenty fast as most of the audio is buffered in the RAM fast. Honestly I'd worry more about getting 2GB or more RAM than anything else. 512MB to 1GB is almost unheard of anymore.

Unless you're doing more than about 4-6 channels at once, just about any computer should be just fine.

7200 has a faster read write rate but it dies/wears out faster
you'll be fine with 5400rpm
unless your downloading large files a lot you won't need a 72
