laser printer problem

I bought a Samsung ML - 1665 laser printer last week, set it up and started to print. Immediately steam began issuing from the top as each sheet printed, while the sheets themselves were crinkled as if they'd been steamed. I phoned Samsung who told me that the steam is a film burning off an interior part and that it would be ok after 400 sheets! Well, I printed 350 approx and there was no sign of improvement, so I brought it back and got another one (same model), but it's the same. Have I just been unlucky, or do you have to 'run-in' a laser printer like a car from 1930?

What kind of paper are you using? I would also try printing another 50 pages. it may yet make a difference.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just using the regular HP office paper that I use with inkjets. And, of course, since I've got the replacement printer I've only printed 20 or 30 sheets - it just seems strange that I haven't heard any warnings about having to print 400 pages before your printed page nears acceptibility.

In my opinion, a laser printer should work good right off the bat. There shouldn't be a break in period. After all, why would anyone want to waste a ream or 2 of paper just to break in a printer?
