Hey,

I am searching for a software that can record audio streams from pages like last.fm and can cut and convert the stream into single mp3s.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance! :)

If you're using Chrome or Firefox you can use an add-on called Greasemonkey for Firefox and Tampermonkey for Chrome and install scripts to do things like download audio. I searched http://userscripts.org/ and couldn't find anything for LastFM that will download the song. I listen to Pandora.com and use a script called Pandora Freemium. Sometimes ads will get played in the audio you save though and I use ADblock.

Forget all that above crap. Just download and install Audacity. That will record a feed - any feed on your soundcard, and you export it to mp3 by downloading and installing the LAME.dll here

You have a horrible way of giving your own advice.

As usual you have a useless post.

My advice is simple, a very useful, multipurpose software that requires no bs, no plugins, not hacks.... Just records whatever is played....

Or you can go with the guy with scripts and complex instructions, or the guy with 4 posts and even more complex nonsense that isn't required.

Keep your bs comments to yourself.

It's not useless. I would say it's constructive to the way you approach a topic, but you seem to hard headed to actually take it into consideration. Saying things like

Forget all that above crap.

Is what is useless and is degrading to other people giving advice.

Anyway. I didn't have the intention of derailing this thread. I'm done now.

How about keep it to PM then mate, because you have derailed the thread.

The Audials thread is a trial software from a person with 4 posts.... in my view crap.

The other approach was overly complicated.

Audacity has been a proven winner, editing, capturing and output.

How about you stick to answering the questions instead of commenting on other's approach?? You're neither a mod nor a contributor in this thread so pull your head in.

And we wonder why this forum is so dead. You pounce on people in part because of their low post count. Great way to drive away potential new members. Regardless of whether his way is good (in your opinion or not) don't degrade them for post count, and try being a little more polite.

Regardless of that, I agree, Audacity would probably be the easiest way to do what you're after.

You can use Mozilla Firefox web browser and free add-on called DOWNLOAD HELPER.
With that add-on you can download almost any media (audio and video) from almost any web site.Until THIS DAY I still did not encounter a media web site from which download helper was not able to do it's job perfectly! :good:

And yes it does work on Last.fm also. ;)

Also download helper can automatically convert the downloaded file to other file type like MP3 or WMV (and a lot more) if you want.

However for downloaded file conversions I would definetely recommend FORMAT FACTORY.It is ALSO free and it can convert almost anything into anything: images, audio, video plus it has few more advanced features.

Of course you can always use the conversion from download helper, but format factory can convert a lot more.

So all you need is:

-Mozilla firefox web browser
-Mozilla firefox add-on called "Download helper"
-Format factory

Here are download links if you are interested:

Mozilla firefox web browser:

https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-stub&os=win&lang=en-US

Mozilla firefox add-on "Download helper":

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/3006/addon-3006-latest.xpi?src=dp-btn-primary

Format factory:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_format_factory/download/da5393aa1e4faa015900807c02d417d4/

So anyway...that is how I do things rather than recording it directly.
And also with Download helper you can download multiple medias at once instead of recording one by one.I used to download them up to 20 at once lol. :D
You can be downloading more than 20 at once if you want, but that depends on your internet connection speed.

STARs, he wants to be able to edit them... those options dont allow that - Audacity does.

What bs. I didn't pounce on him at all. This is why the forum has low activity, because you get posts like yours and this:

that serves nothing except their own sense of outrage. I couldn't care less what he thinks, the point is, the complicated, problematic approachs above are crap, they simply are when a well developed, simple program can do all of what the OP asked for.

Much too much sensitivity here... really.

Well if he wants to cut the clips and edit them then yeah he can use Audacity or any software which allows that.
I just mentioned my options in the case if he wants to download as much as media as possible instead of recording each media one by one.
But I guess the decision is really up to him.
He can use my way AND your way to do things.
It's really up to him I guess...

Cheers man!

Agreed, but this is my original point, reading the OP's requirements, the easiest, best option is audacity... period.

This just confirms you're an asshole if you think what you said is perfectly acceptable behavior. Period.

I'm gonna have to close this before it gets any more out of hand than it already has. The OP hasn't returned since making this thread.
