RAID is not a backup solution! It's for hardware redundancy. If a drive fails, you can replace it without losing data, however if a file is deleted, it's gone.
For backup solutions, there are tons out there. If this is for personal use, you can use the old school way of backing up to a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray disc(s), get an external hard drive and store offsite or at least unplugged from your computer in case of a surge or lightning strike, you can use cloud-based backup solutions, or better yet, a combination of all of these.
