Latest CPU Speeds

Depends on your definition of 'speed'.

Clock rates are commonly around 4 GHz but that isn't the only factor in the equation.
 
My dad's iMac (i7) runs at 2.2GHz but my PC runs at 4.2GHz (860K).

It really does vary and clock speed isn't relative to performance because my dad's iMac can still render better then my gaming PC.
 
This one is a 3.8 GHz. It's a little slow. Thinking of upgrading. I don't have the money.
For instance, what speeds are computer companies putting in their models? What ARE the computer companies today?

What specific CPU do you have?
 
That shouldn't be bad for most general use. What other specs do you have like ram and similar? Have you done any sort of malware scans or similar?
 
I have a 3.2 Ghz Pentium, my dad has a 4.0 Ghz i7, and our home computer has a 1.7 Ghz i5.

My friend also has a 3.6 Ghz Athlon, but my Pentium far outperforms it
 
My girlfriend's rig has a FX 4130, 8 GB 2133 and an SSD. For non-gaming tasks there isn't much difference between hers and mine, so there might be something else going on with your PC if it's horrifically slow.

Check your RAM and hard drive for errors if it's being slow. If you don't have an SSD now is a good time to get one - you can get a 250GB SSD like the Samsung 850 EVO for little money these days. Worth every penny and the best single upgrade you can do for 'snappiness'. :good:
