Laying a Computer on its side?

I live in a dorm room and I want to put my computer under my bed which is probably about a foot high. Would it be bad at all to lay it on its side? I'd figure the only thing it could mess with would be the fans.. but do you think it would affect anything else? I have an antec 900 case.

Thanks

It would be fine, as long as you lay it on the side the motherboard is on, and make sure eveything is screwed in place firmly

I have mine in its side and there is no problem, the only annoyance is when I go to put a cd in, but other than that no problems. If you are putting under your bed I would worry about ventilation

yea sup is right, being under your bed will sure cause higher temps in the computer...maybe buy a water cooling system?? umm can anyone verify if water cooling would run well when the comp is turned to a side? lol

well there are alot of questins though

1. is it going to be on 24/7
2. is your house in a hot or cold enviroment
3. are you going to overclock your computer
4. are you going to play games on the computer

etc.

The only thing you may need to worry about is the optical drive. Some can't work vertically, and some can't work well :P Aside from that, you really shouldn't have any problems

alright sounds good. My computer is pretty damn well cooled I have to say (the antec 900 is pretty beast at cooling). I also don't leave my computer on 24/7 most the time. I'll monitor the temps though just to make sure.

Thanks for the info!

The ONLY problems that I can see are:

1. There's usually a lot of dust under a bed. Chances are that you'll have to blow out a lot of dust from the PC and vacuum a lot... with the PC off!

2. If the bed's alongside a wall, you'll need to look carefully at air circulation; where the cool air comes in and where the warm air's exhausted. You don't want a loop where you're pulling in warmed air.

3. You may need extension cables for the keyboard, mouse, and monitor, and any USB devices.
