LCD, 20+", good for gaming

If the refresh rate went up to 500hz, you still wouldn't notice any difference between that and 60hz. It's a completely different concept; CRTs don't work the same way as LCDs do..
Very true, but on an LCD you still want to set the refresh rate as high as it will go, since that determines how many images per second the monitor can display.

So at 60hz on an LCD you wouldn't notice flickering? I mean, anything above 50 FPS you can't see a noticable difference. What is the LCD equivalent of 75 hz on a CRT? Or are they uncomparable?

As far as I know you never notice flickering on an LCD, but at 60Hz your monitor is only capable of producing up to 60 images per second, which is perfectly fine and most likely more than you need anway, but it's recommended that you raise it to the max it supports.

I dont think you can compare LCD's and CRT's that way.

That one looks alright, but I am going to go with a widescreen. What other good brands are there aside from Viewsonic? I would like to look outside of newegg.

EDIT: Also, would a computer monitor with highish res qualify as a HD screen? I have a 360 on my CRT at 1360 x 768, and I am pretty sure it is HD quality.

Ok thanks. And I hate to quote myself, but any answers to the above questions?
