LCD - dark and bright at the same time?

Hey, so maybe if you have not noticed it seems many LCD monitors have problems showing dark images especially black if it takes up the whole screen. Are there monitors out there (LCD) that can show bold and rich colors like a CRT? Try it out for yourself, get an all black image and maximize it to your screen, you might notice some things you don't like, while whites and bright colors look just fine, the LCD has trouble showing blacks and darks.
I have taken note of some of the specs to look for when buying a LCD for gaming such as response time, viewing angle, and contrast ratio, but this last problem is confusing me. I believe it has something to do with how bright LCDs tend to be in that they often brighten up a dark image with light. Is there anything out there that comes close to a CRT? I was looking at getting the Hyundai LD90+, can this monitor replace a CRT? Please help me and thank you in advance. Oh, and one thing I forgot about was the pixel pitch, wich on the LD90 it is 0296 and on a similar monitor with good reviews (sceptre) it is 0264, I am quite picky about the boldness thank you.

I have the L90D+, the blacks seem to be plenty dark to me. But I also am having problems with the screen so maybe look into another one. For no apparent reason the screen either starts turning green or purple, but if I slap the side it fixes it, and it doesn't happen all too often so I haven't bothered with the RMA yet.
