LCD Optimizer?

I just recently acquired a 17" LCD LG Flatron L1710S monitor and my settings are all messed up.
Does anyone know of a LCD optimizer?
I've been using this one http://www.displaymate.com/check.html but I still find it looks weird

Should I switch back to my old 17" CTR Philips Lightframe 3 107B40?

They can, but it's hard finding the right settings.
It's always too bright or too dark, I can never find that fine line
