LCD or HD TV

What would you use it for? Usually TVs don't produce as sharp picture as LCD monitors unless they're high-end, but 300 pounds doesn't get you a high-end TV (well, not in Australia anyways), so... for gaming and/or as a secondary monitor, it would be good, but as a primary monitor it may make your life a little hard esp. if you have to read a lot of fine print etc... if you need it for a lot of work that involves text, I recommend LCD. If it's primarily for gaming/movies, well, doesn't make a lot of difference, it's a matter of preference.

well i want it replace my 19 inch LCD for my computer so yeah i will need it for text, movie's and games. would it be best to get a LCD monitor?

IMO it would be better to get a good LCD, yes, unless you'd actually like a TV - I mean for watching TV stuff - but if you're strictly wanting it as a monitor for the computer the LCD would be a better choice.

The only benefit to getting a TV to use as a monitor is the option to watch TV when you don't want to use the computer, but you can get a cheap TV tuner for that. Monitors tend to be cheaper too.

^Agreed, lcd monitors are better unless you were looking at 1080p lcd's.

1 last this, i thought it would be fine because the tv is 1080p hd and it has a HDMI socket. i got DVI to HDMI adapters with my GPU's. would i still be able to read text or will it be unreadable like a tv going though s-video?

Dont' use S-video haha. I would either go VGA, DVI or HDMI, depending on which inputs and outputs you have. I have my 22" TV as a secondary monitor. I can still read everything as well as on my monitor, but side by side, the monitor is obviously sharper. Both will work.

With S video, it will be blurry, you need to run DVI or VGA, I would also include HDMI, but iv heard of people having issues with that. With HDMI it doesn't always fit the screen right. Im not saying that would be your case, but iv heard of it happening(going through adapters not right out of the card). Best to borrow an HDMI cable and try it first. Or go to monoprice.com and get one for 4 bux.
